Professional Bio
Arnulf Mayer is a radiation oncologist, physiologist and research scientist with over 20 years of experience in cancer research and patient care. He specializes in head and neck cancer but also has extensive experience in the treatment of a broad range of tumours including CNS malignancies, lung cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, genitourinary tumours, lymphoma, sarcoma, and skin cancers. His technical expertise in radiotherapy includes IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, and brachytherapy. As the head of an experimental cancer research laboratory in Germany, his research focused on how tumour hypoxia and the tumour microenvironment mediate resistance to anti-cancer treatment. His work utilizes multiplex immunofluorescence, whole slide imaging, spatial statistics, and machine learning for biomarker discovery. He is the author/co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and book chapters. Arnulf Mayer completed his medical training at the University Medical Center Mainz in Germany. He has lectured in medical physiology, radiation biology, and radiation oncology. He is a member of DEGRO, ESTRO, ASTRO and other professional societies.
