Dr Matt Mason is a Radiation Oncologist at GenesisCare, based at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and East Maitland, treating head and neck, urological, cutaneous, and breast malignancies. He co-founded Konara Cancer Care, a private multidisciplinary head and neck clinic. He is a lecturer at the University of Newcastle. Matt's research centres on the patient experience, exploring how psychosocial support shapes cancer recovery. He created and implemented Pay It Forward, an anonymous peer-support initiative where head and neck cancer survivors write handwritten cards to patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy, passing on hope to the next person in need, work since published in Supportive Care in Cancer
