Michael Schachtel is an ENT surgical registrar in Queensland, Australia, currently in his third year of specialist training. He completed his PhD at the University of Queensland in 2023 on cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma extending to the temporal bone, undertaken with the Queensland Skull Base Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital under Professor Benedict Panizza. His research covers advanced cutaneous malignancy of the head and neck, perineural spread and lateral skull base anatomy.
