Professional Bio
Dr. Pinaki Bose is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Oncology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Calgary. Within the Cumming School of Medicine and the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, he serves as Scientific Lead for the Precision Oncology and Experimental Therapeutics (POET) program, Director of Tumour Biology and Translational Research for the Ohlson Research Initiative (ORI), and Scientific Lead for the Calgary Global Medical Education (CGME) program. He also leads the Canadian Head And Neck Cancer GEnomic (CHANGE) Collaborative within the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network. Dr. Bose completed his PhD at the University of Calgary, where he was the first to characterize an extra-nuclear role for INhibitor of Growth (ING) proteins. He subsequently trained in the molecular epidemiology of head and neck cancers at the University of Calgary and completed a second postdoctoral fellowship at the BC Cancer Genome Sciences Centre focused on cancer genomics and bioinformatics. During this time, he contributed to Canada’s first Personalized OncoGenomics (POG) program, which pioneered genome-guided therapy for patients with recurrent/metastatic cancers. The Bose Lab investigates the biology of head and neck, brain, and pediatric cancers, with an emphasis on biomarker development and immuno-oncology. Dr. Bose integrates multi-omics, spatial and functional approaches to uncover mechanisms of metastasis, immune evasion, and immunotherapy resistance, with the goal of accelerating translation to precision cancer care. His work has been published in leading journals including Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, Science Translational Medicine, Science Advances, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Research, and PNAS, among others.
